And so it begins!

We have decided to do a blog along with our site, The Store. We want to give you a little insight into why we started The Store, our buying trips, the brands we will be stocking and who we are.
We have always loved fashion and wanted to open our own shop. We decided that as so much time and shopping happens online, to launch The Store as an ecommerce site instead of a “bricks and mortar” store. We felt having The Store online and building a presence there would be a great place to start and eventually we hope to open our own boutique.
Sarah: I have worked in retail since I was 16. I have always loved retail and fashion and wanted it to become my passion. I did a business degree and started my buying career off in Dunnes Stores head office where I worked in the Homewares department for 18 months. From there I went to Tesco head office where I worked in the Toys department for 1 year. Myself and my now husband decided we wanted to travel the world so we left Ireland in 2009 for a year of travelling and settled in Oz. We lived in Melbourne and what was supposed to be a 1 year adventure ended up being our home for 3.5 years. In Melbourne I worked for labels Guess and GAP. With Guess I bought handbags and accessories for over 2 years where I gained invaluable experience buying for a brand. I then moved to GAP for 1 year and bought Women’s and Men’s fashions where I had a great mentor and really thrived. We moved home Christmas 2012 and I went back to Tesco Head office where I still work full time as the Homewares buyer.
Alicia: I have worked in retail since I was 15. I started off in Accessorize part-time and loved working in retail fashion. I completed my certificate in Visual Merchandising and Buying and from there I went and worked in A-wear as a Visual merchandiser. After 1 year there I moved to Tommy Hilfiger and Pepe Jeans where I was an area VM for stores around the country. I then worked as the area VM for River Island before going on my adventure with my now fiancé travelling the world and settling in Oz also. I worked in Myer department store covering NSW as a VM and gained great experience. We moved home in 2010 where I went back to my role in River Island as an area VM looking after stores all over the country. In 2011 I started in House of Fraser as the VM manager. It was a fantastic role and I gained invaluable experience running the VM team in a department store and worked with a great team. I am currently the area VM for Louis Copeland stores.
We hope you enjoy following our journey and love shopping at The Store. We hope to bring you great basic essentials in fashion and help you to create a fantastic basics wardrobe.
Thanks for stopping by
